This is a play about how our community can give us the courage and support to lean into the fullness of our authentic selves. This process itself--with Atlanta artists in community--is an opportunity to practice that in real time.
It’s so invigorating to watch words move from the page to a lived reality for the first time before our eyes, and I’m excited that I got to do this with such a fantastic team of artists--dramaturg Sofia Palmero, Lee Osorio, the playwright, and because this play is about intimate relationships, we will also be crafting what the physical intimacy is for the first time, and how it affects the people in this world. We are so lucky to have the expertise and experience of Greg Geffard to guide that work as our Intimacy Director.
We also have a truly stellar team of designers on this project. Actor’s Express’ own Seamus Bourne and Nick Battaglia designing set and props respectively, John Merritt designing costumes, Hernando Claros designing lights, and Claudia Jenkins Martinez designing sound. The acting ensemble is remarkable as well: Braian Rivera Jimenez, Brandon Lee Browning, Ian Sawan and Cecilia Leall--all Atlanta actors, two of which have been with the play since early drafts and readings.
